During the past few months Trivandrum's denizens have been quietly and indifferently observing the rampant destruction of the city's green canopy.The gentle giants planted years ago by wise rulers and administrators have been felled by today's petty andcorrupt leaders.The trees stood in the way of development,so they had to be cut down.Well,that is the purported reason behind the mindless destruction.Trivandrum used to be a beautiful city with tree-lined avenues and an old-worldy charm.But today Trivandrum is gradually following in the footsteps of that other once beautiful city of Bangalore.The treees have gone.They have left behind huge yawning gaps not only on the physical landscspe but also in the hearts of many a tree-lover such as me.
